Whistle Sound From The Back - On Bumps

Recommended Posts

Was suspecting maybe the pistons that hold the boot , removed them but didn't make difference

Also , stood behind the car and started pushing it down and up from the rear bumper and was silent

ORB

That will check them on smooth progressive pressure but not a sharp shock like bump

Wish I could hook myself to back of the car and listen to it while going :)

I once did that in my 605 convinced it wasn't the plastic rear droplinks but it was lol

Could be a loose exhaust join or mount???

Shook the exhaust up and down & let and right extremely and it's silent as hell

Could be the boot hinges ?

I once had a similar sound. It was the rear hatch lock /catch inside the car There was too much movement in the contact parts.

I have a similar noise with mine, certain it's the boot. Clayts I might have to try out your idea!

Hello GTI experts & lovers .

A quick question :

I went to a garage today and asked them about the whistle sound when going over bumps from back of the car.

They said that it's the rear beam .

My question is : Which kit I need to get (1.9 ) year 1992 , from EBAY to fix the problem ?

this maybe? :

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-205-ALL-MODELS-GTI-REAR-AXLE-REPAIR-KIT-TRAILING-ARM-BUSH-BEARING-/280953502002?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item416a223932

Or this SNR (heard it's a good brand)

Thanks

That second seller has a lot of bad feedback.

As for your rear beam if its making a noise id replace the lot as its more than likely killed its shafts too.

This kit is a bargain you will need 2 though for both sides

Update , I purchased the kit from the Polish seller , item arrived safe and fast . Replaced the whole set which is the bearings kit and the shafts .The old shafts looked tired and worn out.

Re-greased of course but... THE WHISTLE SOUND DIDN'T GO ! ! ! !

Very frustrating!

Shock absorbers are probably pushing more air around than fluid these days

 what a weird sound, I think something is loose, have you checked all your heat shields above the exhaust?

No not yet , but I grabbed the exhaust and just shook it all over and nothing sounded like that.
