I have a plan to turn it into a 205 rallye replica?? It is a very good shell to build from so time will tell. The only different part to the rallye replica would be the engine, would think about putting a 1.9 8v in there? What do you guys think to this idea?

I like the rallye replica but personally i would stick with a tu engine, its a lot more work to get a 1.9 in there, you could put a 106 gti engine in there for similar if not more performance than a 1.9 for less effort, the cheapest and easiest of all would be to put an Xs lump in there,

Ohh lovely I am really pleased you guys like the idea, I think its a rather good one too :P

I am a bit of a tech reject so ia the XS engine the 75bhp 1400cc? Also would it we a straight swap?

Xs is 85bhp and would be a very simple swap, you would want to get the Xs gearbox aswell.only extras would be an XS instrument panel if you wanted it so you could have a rev counter and i guess yours doesnt have a temp gauge

Don't forget rallye arches will not fit a base model shell

Really..?

The rallye is only a base model anyway..

I know of a Magenta coloured T16 kitted 205 XE, runs a 4AGE up front and Sunbeam rear end :D

no its not, the rallye was a gti shell with 1.6 running gear other than the MA box and TU24 engine on twin 40's.

Is there a thread on here that someone has done with a similar conversion? Or maybe keep it standard looking?...

I have just finished giving the Pug a clean and I thought I would take a couple pics! I have been getting some stick about the wheels, even my wife thinks they are a bit rubbish lol! I was wondering what your thoughts were on either pepper pots or rallye steelies? Anyway I wanted it to look presentable for Monday's Curborough visit :D

Woo! Us pikey-spec'ers have to stick together y'know...

That's a real time-warp find from the pics. Almost seems a shame to mod it.

Funny my rallye isn't.

"Proper" Rallye (TU24) is a GTI Shell and running gear

"Tesco Value" Rallye (TU3) is a base model shell and running gear

:D

Brings back memories! I had an XE as my first car, lovely motor! Mine wasn't in such good nick mind you. I stuck some 1.6 alloys on it and some GTi seats front and back, didn't really what I was doing back then (same as now really) so I didn't mess with the engine.

What about strictlyderv, he's got rallye arches on his diesel 205. Anything is possible.

I think rallye arches on this 205 would look really good. Kinda along the lines of what id like to do with my xs :)

rallye arches will fit it.

ive got a set in my garage i'm umming and eerring about fitting to my rallye.

slight bit of adjustment needed but, same story with any fiberglass bits you get.

i think rallye steels and a red gti front lower bumper and she'll be a cracker!

I agree with you guys the 106 rallye wheel will look sweet! Would a gti bumper fit straight onto my car? How much do you chaps think a set of rallye wheel would cost me?

Any leaning round corners perhaps? :D

A lot of leaning going on lol but once its lent over it have good grip :P
