I think you will find the towing weight for the car is probably about 1000kg maximum hence regardless of license you cannot legally tow more than that with the tow car.

Thanks. Seems I'd need a very light trailer or a lighter car to tow. Maybe the Locost/Westfield route might not be such a bad idea!

I'd be looking to buy a larger car tbh, or borrow one or find a mate with a Transit van!

the rules are rubbish, I can drive any size rigid lorry, like a 28t 8 wheeled tipper but cant tow a small car trailer.

simple answer then...........7.5ton flatbed with beaver tail and a winch!!!:)
