Disposing Of A Shell?

Recommended Posts

Lowercase

Hi guys,

I plan on using the rear beam and front subframe set up from my 1.6 gti shell on my rallye.

question is, how do i then get rid of the shell?

The obvious answer is to just put the rallye's rear beam on the gti shell etc and have some nice scrappy take it away.

But my plan is to remove the parts, strip them down and shot blast them, refurb, rebuild and then dry store them until the rallye shells underside has been sorted with fresh underseal and paint, and then bolt shiny new bits on :D.

as the parts could be in storage for a year perhaps i obviously dont want a shell on axle stands sitting in the barn untill i can get rid of it.

so yea, ideas and cheap/free solutions please chaps?

yea chopping it up is the route im going with so far. shame to do that to a fairly tidy shell.

ill have to stick it on ebay as free to collector or something. cant imagine ill have any takers though.

its a gti shell 1992 ph2. inside has no interior or dash. an has been painted campovolo grey.

outside was miami blue, but was being prepped for paint so is in various states of being keyed and has had the filler work done.

was a sunroof model but thats been plated over.

i've nicked most parts off it, bonnet, and drivers door, bumpers etc.

probably isnt any use to anyone, i just hate to throw things away!

but if some one wants it, its yours.

yea uckfield in east sussex. would like to keep the engine in it, but will make life easier if i take it out i think. it was a good engine so that might fetch me a bit of beer moneys.

would be a great fast road shell or rally shell etc.

ill give you a shout when the shells ready to go jamie. weathers warming up now so i can get over to it and finish stripping it.

Just cut one up with an angle grinder, took a couple of hours. I couldnt give it away, not even the local scrap man could be bothered taking it!

Although I've access to a fork lift now if I need to lift any on rather than dragging them up with a winch.

Just get a tow rope and pull it. (Was going to attach photo but best not :D)

Or just find someone that will winch it on a flat bed ( it doesn't damage metal beds... Much)
