Relocating The Brake Servo

Recommended Posts

Here's another solution to the master cylinder clearance issue. The transfer setup is off a 406 - all it needed was shortening, and a mounting and adapter plate made up. The best bit is that it works. :) Well, at least it looks like it will once the pipes have been redirected.

do you get the 106 out there? or the 206? these both would offer very similar setups but narrower than the 406 by some margin I would imagine.

Nope, no 106s here. But we do get the 206. I only got the idea because I bought a 406 as a donor car for its engine.

That's a great idea but aren't 406's on the same side as the 205's in the uk? I have seen this setup in cars before though and this would be perfect for mine.

no, all rhd 406's use that setup, as do 106's and 206's, also 307/8, possibly the 207 and 8 but I have only been under the bonnet of those very briefly.

Nice I didn't know that thanks mei a friends got a 206 i'll have a good sniff at it later. I kept the brake servo from my 605 and its insane massive wonder if i could make it fit to a 206 setup that would make awesome powerful braking. I would have to change my 1.6 hubs for 1.9's and get 1.9 shafts and possibly gti6 brake calipers too!

I couldnt think of anything worse to do, make it like a modern car with absolutely no pedal feel.

I know what you mean truly but a big cast iron lump thats over powered for my little skip with two children in the back is a bit of a safety concern for me and the brakes in my 605 were the best brakes i've ever known upto now anyway (I know it wont be the same though - no abs for a start)

Seems a lot of effort to me for a very simple mod to a standard servo to except 16v
