205/saxo Vts Wiring Advise Wanted

Recommended Posts

jamie_1992

ok then im planning on changing the engine in the xs as the gti6 is now close to on the road

i have a saxo vts with a sweet engine in, i am more than confidant about putting the engine in and what needs doing all that worrys me is the wiring

will it be the same as my gti6 conversion where the multiplugs need changing or is it a little more in depth

will the clocks need changing for gti clocks

p.s. a guide will be made when doing this conversion for all others to follow

also undecided to go vts or d turbo so someone convince me what to do

I'd keep the VTS whole tbh!

Regarding getting it running, yes in essence exactly the same as going a gti6 conversion, its the same ecu series as it happens, but only runs wasted spark not full sequential.

Find the appropriate wires in the multiplugs and connect them to the corresponding ones in the 205 engine loom, same as doing say an Mi16 or a V6 conversion.

They all need a switched live, permanent live, a starter motor switched live, and a fuel pump wire, earth is typically self contained in the loom, just connect it to the transmission.

ok then will it be ok using the xs clocks and wiring or will it need to be from a gti

can't see why you would need to change the instrument cluster, its nigh on identical to the gti one.

have a wiring diagram (click the link for a larger one)

The wiring is very easy actually :) just identify the wires Welshpug mentioned on both the 106 and the 205. I ve got a 106 main engine loom connector (interior side) with the required wires identifed if that helps

just done this conversion, although car is on track so not to road standard, but clocks are fine, are you changing gearbox aswell? the vts is different from the 106 loom as i found out, but i did mine with the vts loom, have a search on my content ive covered most of the wiring on that still have a handy wire diagram of the multiplug aswell.

Relay Box Connector:

#14 Ignition Live

#2 Battery +

#8 Battery +

#11 Battery +

#15 Battery + (Most of these will be on separate wires leading up to the engine bay fuse box)

#13 Fuel Pump Feed

There the conector numbers for a 106 cant be much diffrence

205 gearbox has a diffrent speedo drive to the vts/106 remeber , easyer keeping the 205 box , apart from that from what ive read its a straight forward conversion good luck :)

i wanted long ratios as race on oval so i used a 1.1 saxo gearbox, does around 70 in 2nd gear lol. yer the speedo drive is different but the units are interchangeable.

also the loom and wire numbers mentioned above will be slighty different as 106 loom, best double check anyway with a multi meter on buzz setting. dont forget you need to fabricate an exhaust and shave your top mount! any problems give me a pm.

Of course it can.

oh really i was told you cant as the bellhousing is different

i wonder if it would put up with the extra power of a vts engine

Using the standard box off the vts/106 the shafts dont sit in the diff corectly due to the thickness of the pin and the shafts need slight adjustment or making good pair out of the 2 , i read this on one of the build threads on here

thats why i said be easyer using the xs box if the bell housing matches up witch it should if its a later car , im no pug genius tho!

i'll try and find the threads for you

I've been told that the xs bellhousing is different to 106/Saxo ones. I could be incorrect as I never tried to use one.

I'm using a 106 box and I have no problems with the standard 205 driveshafts at all.
