Mine smoked really bad but still went well. I put some Stop Smoke in. I think its made by Wynns and i think it was less than a tenner. It has been in the engine for about a year i think and allthough it didn't work in the first few days it certainly made a massive difference over time. Saves the embaresment when you are stuck in MacDonalds drive through waiting for your Big Mac and smoking everybody in sight :D .

Can't remember 100% but I reckon I probably gave it a go on my 1.6 and if I did, it probably made no difference as it was too far gone by then.

You have to weigh up the pros and cons really. If the smoking is not that bad, I personally wouldn't bother. I think that all the product does is thicken up the oil so it's less likely to get past the rings and seals etc, possibly with some added lunbricants to try and bring some life back to the seal. I think it's one of those things that's generally regarded as "snake oil". I suppose the risk is that by adding it, you could potentially compromise the performance of the oil, so actually increasing wear on the internals. Basically, google it and see what other people are saying.
