Taking Apart Steering Rack

Hi

 

I am trying to fit a quaife quick rack kit.

 

How do I take the old rack apart, I need to take the ends off of the splined parts?

 

Do I just need to fold up that lock washer tabs and use the 1 flat to hold on to and then undo with spanner?

ok, so have no removed the washers and seperated the arms.

how do i take ouy the spline drive, have removed cover plate and plastic guide; spring etc and tried pulling it with no luck.

also; the plastic bush is held in with a circlip, how do i get this out, tried removing with screwdrivers but cannot prize it?

Circlip pliers or two small screwdrivers perhaps with an assistant. I'd personally use this as an excuse to invest in some so that in the future when faced with a similar need you have them ready to hand.

I have circlip pliers but this clip is not what i would call normal, there are no holes to put the pliers in so no way of prizing apart.
