does anybody know if a 15x8 rims will fit on a 205 xs standard arches if not will 15x7

I very much doubt it, particularly if lowered. 15x6 is tight enough with base model rear arches and usually means that you can't run the correct profile tyre.

As anthony says, I'm running 15x7 on a gti she'll with a 309 beam and that's close on that.
