Sorry! 1.6 Vs 1.9

Why? Elaborate..

I hear this all the time , what's so good about it ? what's so fun about it?

(I got a 205 GTi - and it's OK ) and I sometimes don't dig the buzz.

My 1.6 was pretty pokey. It had a piper cam which made it pull hard and fast when it hit the power band. It was about 140bhp and the revie engine, combined with the cam and short ratio gear box ment it just wanted to go and go. You could nail it through the gears and 5th would pull like 3rd. Felt like you could keep throwing gears at it.

 

But with both 1.9 and 1.6, the steering is sharp (feels like a "quick rack" compared to most other hot hatches). The handling is just awesome! The heavily anti roll barred and torsion bar suspension set up means they just dont slide with good tyres on the country roads (maybe "skip" a little and you can get some cool lift off over steer when you really push them )

 

I drive mine like I stole it at times and its never let me down.
