Which Bonnet Pins You Got & Are You Happy With Them?

Recommended Posts

omri617

Hi

My 2 sets of bonnet pins "SPARCO" , rusted after 2 months and just didn't do the job.

Last one was red and it began losing color and scratching after 1 week.

Which pins you use ? do you recommend?

Thanks

Aerocatch, they're a bit 'done to death' nowadays but they're pretty good and don't rust, plus they're 'ring' friendly ;)

my car came with the aerocatches, most annoying things ever. always seam to seize even with loads of oil, need a screwdriver to open them all the time.

Anyone can give me a link to a good set on EBAY , that built to last and not rust fast?

none of them. Aerocatch are probably the best despite a few people with issues.

They are built to race with - not last.

I have the Aerocatch for some years already and they are still fine.

stick with the standard catch in that case IMO.

I agree with you Mei , the problem is , the bonnet is already holed .

repair bonnet

or

buy a replacement.

if you dont like the aerocatch the other option is pins that get scratched and mark the bonnet and of course anyone can gain access to your engine bay.

I have the Grayston stainless steel ones on my 309, they've been on for a few years now & it spent the first year outside.

No sign of rust or decolorisation at all.

They are pretty cheap too.

They do a chrome plates steel set, I'd avoid that as I'm guessing they are the type that rust.

Have they been fitted wrong or something!?

They are, being honest a faf to fit, but once done do the job very well where the standard catch cannot be used.

it that case why not keep the latch on the bonnet but have the pin removed, reinstall the original catch and stick with it. treat the aerocatch as decoration.

this will cost almost nothing if you still have the original catch somewhere
