Help Needed Planning A Ramp For My Gti

Recommended Posts

GLPoomobile

GLPoomobile you´re right except the car ground clearance was 120 mm at the middle. So the ramp length becomes circa 5,1 meters.

I'll give you 4/6 points and a happy face :)

I was so caught up in the moment that I completely missed that Omri had stated this in his first post!:lol:

Ok, realised i was an idiot with my earlier Cad... i'm blaming it was early, it was quick and I'm an idiot :P

was only using half the available angle

looking at the screenshots below it pretty much matched what others have worked out already

also did a semi curved version which shows it can shorten the space used...

Sounds like you made the same mistake I did when my first attempt worked out that the ramp needed to be about a mile long

So if flat , i need it to be 5,3 meters

If curved , 3,5 is enough ?

Might be able to get the ramp shorter than that. The approach angle on to the ramp from the lower level can be really quite steep as the overhang on the little pug is fairly short. I don't have any dimensions to hand for the distance between the axles and the lowest foremost and rearmost points, but I'm guessing the angle is steeper than that so far calculated for clearance with regard to to the middle underside of the vehicle.

Clay? wouldn't have thought you'd have said that!

By terms of money , it's cheaper than steel for example . and with wood , I wouldn't know if it will handle the weight!
