Surely once it's yielded it's not going to have the same strength again without proper annealing?

 

How would you go about straightening it accurately, being a circular section makes it pretty difficult, especially of that diameter....

 

If I have the means and it saves scrapping the rack then I'm definitely game

I would imagine a press and accurate placement of supports would get that straight enough to use again :)

 

I'm sure Tom could advise whether heat would be advisable to use or not.

That's the thing, it's like if you've ever tried to straighten a bit of wire, there's the spring back of the material to consider so would need pressing beyond straight. Also it's very difficult to pin point the bend centre and the hold the support exactly on the outer most 'edge' of the curvature. Certainly with the equipment I have which doesn't extend much beyond a bench vice and a hammer! Very open to suggestions though...
