Anyone Know The Diameter Of The Pins On Quarter Badges?

Recommended Posts

pugpete1108

Im planning to start casting new rear quarter badges from polyurethane (provided they are durable enough) soon and would like to be able to offer these with the locating pins attached but am having trouble finding any measurements for them?

length and diameter needed really, and if they tapered down towards the end? (i thought they did?)

going to try using acrylic rod embedded in the resin when casting, its just going to be a trial to start with but hopefully they will be man enough for the job.

all the sets i have here are broken but i can use them for locating the pins on the badges themselves just need the dimensions.

so if anyone has a badge with a pin still located id be grateful if they could have a measure up for me.

its been something ive been looking at for ages so watch this space..........

cheers

Hey Pete, I got a set of badges of a mates donor car today and the 1.6 badge still had both pins on!

Here's a closer pic with the measurements.

As you can see its 3mm wide by 8mm long, and kind of rounds off at the top!

Hope this can help,

Robbie.

Why did they deciced to make these only 3mm thick?

It's typical of Peugeot this, no other manufacturer make parts that are designed to break when you remove them.

Just having a rant as I'm in the process of putting the interior back in and having to glue, rivet, bond and tape everything back in place.

they were not intended to be removed, nor last 20-25 years!

i could be wrong but i have s##t loads of these badges in a box and im sure depending on age of and model of car some of the pins were solid round pins.unlike the one pictured. this may be irrelevant info but just thought id throw it in the mix :)

They came with a plastic socket which went into the bodywork and a foam washer that sat on top of that so the pin could be pressed into it. The only way to get them out in one piece is to push them out (pressing both pins squarely at the same time) from the inside and then remove the plastic socket

I do have a for sale here also, withba substantial discount. They are painted, not just some vinyl foil stuck to them so they look pretty much original. Different designs also possible.
