Following on from this thread::

I thought i would start a fresh thread to discuss the possible ways in which to do so as I thought it would be diverting from he OP's reading an such...

Tom, would it be possible to drill it out, heat it out, smash-10-barrels-of-sh*t it out?? And heavy press a new one in??

I know that the bones are now reasonably cheap, unless you want something better quality which will last, but surely there has to be a way to do it??

1. Even if you can get it out, where are you going to buy a new one?

2. At the price you can buy them for, if paying someone else to press new bits in and out would it really be economical to do anyway?

I wouldnt call £75+ for a decent wishbone cheap, when a 306 wishbone can be had minus BJ for under £20, and a BJ for £6.

I have pressed a BJ out, it was very easy and didnt take many tons at all.

however the issue is finding something that will go back in, the body of most BJ's I have seen are much bulkier (106 for example) though I havent measured up, there is a contact of a Forum member that can sort a Spherical Joint much like the satchell wishbones, far stronger and significantly cheaper than a RJ welded on.

Over here , some machine shops offer servicing/press-replacing the balljoints .. as well as few firms which are specialized in manufacturing balljoints , droplinks , U joints etc.

So yes it can be done .

(not so sure but i think that they press in a Renault 19 16v balljoint into the 205 wishbone , as it's the same size ..)

So for now , even if we pull the ballpoint out , no current replacement .

Meant the R 19 16v balljoint when it's not pressed in the housing for use on actual vehicle .. the ball itself , apparently same fitment when pressing in the 205 wishbone .

Funnily enough I saw details of someone doing a pair of 944 wishbones on the retro rides forum earlier, however at that price its nigh on cheaper to replace the complete wishbone given they also come with bushes pre-fitted <_<
