Anyone Got 16V Head Parts And 8V Head Parts To Hand?

Recommended Posts

Long shot but I'm wanting to know if the centre bore of the 8v valve spring retainer (that holds the collets) is the same as the 16v. I may need to drop some shims into a 16v so wanting to establish if 8v shims will sit in there OK. Will make life a lot easier if they do. If not can anyone tell me the correct diameter to buy for 16v? I don't want to pull this car apart and immobilise it until absolutely necessary. Thanks Its an XU10J4R (not an iron block mi16 or S16 etc)

8V's are 8mm, Mi16/S16 are 7mm and the R/RS 6mm. Sorry, but that's not going to work. The best way to fix your problem is to use what's called a "top hat shim" or a "lash cap shim". Summit racing sell them for example.

Or replace all 16 valves and valve guide so they'll fit 8V valves....

I've seen it done before, as the 8V (TU engine) valves are slightly bigger...
