GeorgeXS 32 Posted April 2, 2014 You could 3d print a mould and then make your own silicone rubber seals. That would be cool.

jackherer 543 Posted April 2, 2014 was just thinking for the rubber seals on the driving lights You can cut them from a sheet of rubber with a sharp knife easily enough.
farmer 328 1 Cars Posted April 2, 2014 Are they stupidly expensive? What about the window scrapers? About £75 each for the scrapers. £100 each for door seals

Rjuhar 52 Posted April 3, 2014 might redo it completely, i used the I and 16 from the mi badge but they dont look tall enough You're right - they're too small.
DC2T 51 Posted April 3, 2014 I certainly can, i just wana get the finishes right first before i start selling them. Ill try and get a better camera to show you what i mean but i think im gonna get them painted. Black with red letters still but that should hide the machine marks. I could always sell unpainted ones and let people paint them themselves if people would prefer
DC2T 51 Posted April 3, 2014 Oh and farmer i think your parts came yesterday, ive gotta pick them up from the post office as there was no one to sign for them

Daviewonder 533 3 Cars Posted April 3, 2014 Is the size of these badges based on the Mi16 badge? Will the end result have the same dimensions as the GTI one?
DC2T 51 Posted April 3, 2014 As i only have an mi16 badge to take sizes from the baseplate on all badges ive shown is the same size as the mi 16 badge. Its easy enough to re-scale them, if someone has a gti badge that can measure it that would be great. I was under the impression they were the same but maybe not? notamondayfan 44 Posted April 4, 2014 By the way on the 15th April there's a conference "Develop 3D" in Coventry. http://www.develop3dlive.com/ Looks like there's a real mix of 3D disaplines, and quite a few 3D printers being exibited, along with loads of speakers. I'll be there anyway!
DC2T 51 Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) Well i got the 2 items farmer sent, was almost sacriligious having to open the factory sealed bags they came in :s but i did it as subtley as i could. Its looking promising as i dont see anything the printer couldnt manage. Theres a few areas of concern though, one of which is on part no. 2430.18 the rest isnt much to worry about but i have to adjust things slightly in order to be able to print, things like the raised connecting pins in each half. Ill put pins in one half and recesses in the other etc The little skirt on either side wont print unless i alter it, basically just make it slightly thicker thats all but i was curious as to its purpose? It looks like some sort of seal or an oil scraper of sorts. taking a cast of the internal faces to establish sizes. Ill also let our QA guys do a trace on their new insanely expensive tracing machine on monday night Edited April 4, 2014 by DC2T
farmer 328 1 Cars Posted April 4, 2014 Watching eagerly! The block just help keeps things nice and tight on the gears, slop etc.

farmer 328 1 Cars Posted April 4, 2014 What's the plan for the throttle pedal bearing, will that print ok?
DC2T 51 Posted April 4, 2014 i think so yeh, ill have to alter the pegs slightly so it will print but it should be fine. Ill draw it on paper at work tomorrow then finish it at home when i get in and hopefully print off by the night
farmer 328 1 Cars Posted April 4, 2014 Sounds promising. If anybody else has any other suggestions that I may have on the NLA side please forward.
farmer 328 1 Cars Posted April 4, 2014 Could gear knobs be printed
DC2T 51 Posted April 4, 2014 yeh probably, id imagine theyd take a while to print though. probly 4-6 hours as itll be relatively tall. drawing would be a challenge too but id be happy to try though The insert for the top would be an easy one to do, especially as people are doing gti 6 swaps you could do custom inserts etc
