stu8v 68 1 Cars Posted March 31, 2014 (edited) Yeah they must look cool, I'd like some big bell mouthed ones with a droop on :-) I was going to see about making some in fibre glass but I may hang on if your interested in making a few? Something like these but with a 30 degree droop Edited March 31, 2014 by stu8v
stu8v 68 1 Cars Posted March 31, 2014 I could send an alloy prototype maybe given a little bit of time.
DC2T 51 Posted March 31, 2014 sounds like a plan, heres a few ive designed that id love to print out. and the original set i made
DC2T 51 Posted March 31, 2014 stu what size would you want? 48 tapering to 42 ?
stu8v 68 1 Cars Posted March 31, 2014 What cad program is best to use for designing bits an pieces?
stu8v 68 1 Cars Posted March 31, 2014 Not sure on size ill have a measure tomorrow
DC2T 51 Posted March 31, 2014 Depends really mate, i use solidworks. I find it very easy to use and pick up. I learnt on unigraphics which is now siemens NX Ill have to look into making the trumpet tapered, for some reason the way i do it isnt working which is odd as it has in hte past
GeorgeXS 32 Posted March 31, 2014 What cad program is best to use for designing bits an pieces? How long is piece of string? If you're new to CAD then Solidworks is probably your best bet among the major programs, certainly the easiest and most intuitive I've used. Once you learn the modelling techniques in one program it is usually easy to transfer to another, just a case of finding where the right buttons are for what you're after! I've heard good things about Google Sketchup as it's meant to be very easy to pick up (and free), however I haven't used it in years and have no idea if it can produce useful file formats for this sort of work. DC2T 51 Posted March 31, 2014 Yeh i beleive its good, but not upto what a solid program can do, like inventor, NX, Catia, Solidworks etc. But good for free, the SW2013 torrent is free also lol
stu8v 68 1 Cars Posted April 1, 2014 Cheers I'll have a play. Basic measurements are 65mm tapering to 45mm, approx 150mm long. But the important thing is they must droop or else it'll hit the bonnet. I'm running short trumpets ATM which I'm sure isn't optimal.
Slo 283 1 Cars Posted April 1, 2014 Slo you get the bad wobble from the throttle pedal. On the gear stick? Already have that but I put that down to a badly needs replacing rear lower mount
farmer 328 1 Cars Posted April 1, 2014 The picture I took last night was of the throttle "pedal bearing" as Pug like to call it
Slo 283 1 Cars Posted April 1, 2014 Right I have picked up some of these 2430 18 and that is my lot. Shall I send one down to be printed in solid plastic? Meant this one farmer
farmer 328 1 Cars Posted April 1, 2014 Ok that's on its way to DC2T to hopefully copy.
Slo 283 1 Cars Posted April 1, 2014 Ahh i see where the confusion is now, i was asking about the plastic mount halfs in the gear stick just after you put up that picture of the throttle pedal plastic mount halfs, but i was on my phone and it doesnt show pictures in emails
farmer 328 1 Cars Posted April 1, 2014 Ahh, get you now. Both have been sent down to replicate. Hope it helps some people.
Slo 283 1 Cars Posted April 1, 2014 Yeah will obviously buy a set of both if the material is hard enough to stand up to wear but im not sure how worn mine are to be honest although I did turn the throttle pedal one round as I has to remove it to get the big ass turbo loom plug past it after drilling a hole in the bulkhead and noticed it was a bit wobbly then
farmer 328 1 Cars Posted April 1, 2014 The throttle pedal design is a bit guff, a new one does help a bit though.
Slo 283 1 Cars Posted April 1, 2014 Aye like I said if you remove the pedal turn the mount upside down and refit its a lot better anyway
farmer 328 1 Cars Posted April 1, 2014 Some tape on the pedal can help with some slack as well. White blocks are a bit more effective, I noticed a big difference.
stu8v 68 1 Cars Posted April 1, 2014 Just file a small amount off the faces. It nips it up a bit.

hexhamstu 9 Posted April 2, 2014 Sorry bought a 205 on saturday, got a little distracted by that! Can the printer do any other materials? A rubber type for instance?
hexhamstu 9 Posted April 2, 2014 Whats the minimum thickness the printer can do?
DC2T 51 Posted April 2, 2014 Minimum width is the nozzle width of 0.4mm, minimum layer thickness is under 0.05mm. dont think it can do a rubber, would be great printing mounts if it could lol. Can do nylons and stuff, new materials get developed often so maybe in the future
