How Much Are Tidy 309 Gti's Going For?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I fancy a 309 GTi of late and just wondered what the consensus of opinion was as to value?

Answers on a postcard...

This a very open ended question because it depends on so much, body condition, 3dr or 5dr, service history, overall mechanical condition, colour, ph1 or ph2?

One things for sure there's not many left so prices are rapidly going up, there looks to be a tidy 3 dr with 1 owner on ebay at the moment, wouldn't be surprised if it goes for near £2k

There's a guy selling a phase 2 Miami 3 door on the 309 owners forum for 2k. Worth a look as it seems to have had money spent on it in the right places.

3 door are valued more, as are phase 2. Miami is a preferential colour. Goodwoods carry a premium. Autos are cheaper.

Then is comes down to your usual stuff after that like rust, condition, mileage, beam, history etc.

I would say £2k would buy you a respectable one which doesn't need paint. Tatty ones are dirt cheap but these have been bought and broken by everyone on here!

They're all rusty these days anyway, except if they've been properly restored/sorted, so i'd inspect one intricately before paying out top money for one.

on another note allye has just bought a 309 for near the same money if its tidy its worth the money imo.

:P I might buy it, then go with a few friends to pick up my new cars, 309 GTi, 205 GTi, Mi16v and 306 GTi6.

Allye hardly bought a standard one did he, you can't use that as a yardstick for values at all.

205,000 miles on it and its getting near £2k? He hasn't put in the front fog/driving lights but says he can get 4 new ones from the dealer? They must be looking top dollar for the lights. I'd be abit weary of it myself.

I'm not a big eBay user, but if you look at the bidding, does that mean that bidder "9***z" has been bidding the item up from £1000-£1780 deliberately??

Also if it's a "one owner car" how come he write's this? "Was told by the previous owner the car had an oil an filter change every 5000 miles"

He probably meant its 1 owner on the logbook because the last 10 owners didnt bother registering it.

Something isnt quite right there.

Yeah Rich Treen's old car, not sure i could own that sort of 205 tbh, i couldn't enjoy it, there built be thrashed down country lanes, not sure i could with this, afraid of getting it dirty! Nice to have sat in the garage, but that's about it.

I spotted that 309 on there earlier too. One day would like another to go with the 205!

I'm sure that he's got mates bidding it up though, it went to that price within a couple of hours of the listing starting! If its had a full re-spray as claimed and is rust free then probably a decent buy. Its sitting too high at the back though so wonder if the beams been fiddled with...

Afternoon,

Interestingly, the "original key" looks like one of those reproduction ones as the blade is too long and I doubt it will say anywhere RIEMEN FRANCE.

Yes, bidding histort does look suspicious.
