Heater Fan, Wiper Motor - Circuits Related?

Recommended Posts

Projectuno

Hi,

I am taking my car out of hibination, it had been in garages for 3 years unused.

I am going through the car thoroughly replacing fluids etc but have found the heater blower fan motor no longer works. Can anyone advise where I can access the connector to check it is receiving power? (I have checked fuse)

The wiper motor gets hot but does not move so suspect it is getting power fine but mechanism has seized. Replacing them will be a last resort as they have had little use since new.

If I find I need to replace these motors, does anyone know if Euro car parts can supply these? Their site seems to be v slow or down today.

Many thanks

The fan motor is found under the dash near the centre console in the passenger side footwell, the motor itself is held in by three screws & has a two pin plug to it, yellow & red wires iirc.

Disconnect the wiper linkages as it could be the arm ends that are seized but if not a wanted topic on here should source one fairly cheap. eurocarparts only list the rear wiper motor @ £157!

How do I access it? Do I need to remove anything or if I lie upside down in the passenger footwell, will I see the connector for the fan motor?

Yes but you don't have to lie upside down to see it, leanng over the door sill will be enough.

There might be a small felt type formed cover over the motor hiding it but that's easy to remove & you'll see two plugs into the main black body of the fan housing, one with either four or five pins into the resistor unit which controls the motor speed along with the dash dial & a smaller two pin plug which is the motor plug iirc.
