Trackday Tyre Pressure

Just to be sure before my track day on sunday, what tyre pressure should I run on 15" 195/50 toyo proxes t1r ?

Aim for around 30psi all round when hot, bit of personal preference to that though. Probably start with 27psi in the front and 28 in the rear, come in after a few laps and check/adjust them. I tend to check tyre temps after the first few sessions. Different tyres warm up more/differently so this is only a rough guesstimate for your particular tyres.

Similar to Allan, when I had some T1R's on my track wheels I started with about 27-28psi on the front cold but slightly less at 26psi at the back & checked them after a few laps or at the end of my session, looking for about 30-32psi hot but outside air & track temps will alter what is ideal & its also a personal thing on how the tyres respond.

 

Start with them around standard pressures & adjust them as you feel suits your driving style & the track after a few laps with them up to temp.

If you can Buff them then do, the tread will overheat in no time at all, Even buffed you'll get around 12 minutes of use before they go off

Do you mean nitrogen?

 

I remembered earlier that the last time i got some tyres swapped over on some track wheels they tyre centre filled them with nitrogen instead of normal compressed air to keep the pressures more stable.

both better than air, one better than the other, can't recall which - defintetely recall a guy getting banned from local races for using helium...

Helium in tyres? hahaha

 

Its all about Nitrogen due to the low moisture content giving a lower increase in pressure due to heat.

And what is the difference in pressure between cold and warm tyre ??

Couldn't comment.

 

It varies so much between all the variables that each car has including driving style. You will have to figure that out for yourself. I've run cars which have an 11 psi cold/warm difference with one driver, then with a switch it becomes 8 psi cold/warm.
