Retro Fitting Isofix Into Cti

Recommended Posts

stumpyjag

Guys, this one is way out there. But having recently purchased a Cti i dont like the look of the lap belts for holding the kids in. With this in mind I am aware that you can purchase ISOFIX bracket kits. Has anyone had a go at fitting one of these to a Gti/Cti? Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Not fitted ISOFIX brackets but I did put in some shoulder harnesses for occasional use as I didn't like the lapbelts either.

I did a post on it here: http://pscuk.net/threads/61316-205-CTI-anyone-fitted-3-point-rear-belts

These are not FIA compliant or anything else, but better than just a lap belt IMHO in case the worst happens. I hardly ever have the kids in the back anyway.

Was thinking about that too. If I fitted a set of these at least adults could wear them too, I don't think the lap belts are safe for anyone. Did you just mount the rear strap through the boot floor with a plate underneath? Thanks for the advice.

You can secure them onto the rear beam mounts as if that goes anywhere then you have much bigger problems to deal with and you'd stand a better chance being flung from the car!!

Thats a great idea, thanks. Did you fit the standard belts or the ones with a retractor, just wondering if its worth paying a bit more so that passengers can atleast move around as with normal belts rather than being held fast.

One a completley sperate note have you still got any Cti boot struts for sale.

Thanks

Mine are just wide nylon webbing flag stitched in a loop over the standard belt so they work like a 4 point harness. There is no top mounting point for a 3 point belt and this would potentially reduce the overall safety or be an MOT failure for an insecure seatbelt mount.

*They are not exactly FIA standard with the P clips I used. I would like to get a proper bracket made with a harness eyelet which mounts onto a metal plate which bolts to the beam mounts. I would also like 3" wide webbing with harness pads on it. However my view was it only added to the lap belt and therefore was an improvement on standard, if not the best overall technical solution. It cost me about £5!!

And funnily enough I do have a couple of CTI boot struts left as I forgot to take them to Pugfest More info on the boot strut here: http://pscuk.net/threads/70327-Cheap-205-CTI-Cabriolet-Boot-struts

£18 posted which is a bit cheaper than their website, but will be sent by standard post. Paypal henry@yorkesport.co.uk if you want one :)

Sorry should have explained better, the ones I am looking like are three point with a retractor in the center:

http://www.paddockspares.com/sec700black-securon-700-3-point-harness-with-retractor-black.html

Just thought it would give the passengers some movement instead of feeling like their in a rally car.

I will send you pay pal payment for boot strut now.

Thanks alot.

Don't know where to get any. As mine is for my kids I think I will buy the proper item. We're your original ones a bit restrictive. You can get standard ones for around £30 on that site but I thought it might be worth paying a bit more for the retractor.
