Another 205 For The Scrapyard

Recommended Posts

I've owned my beloved 205 gti for nearly 4 years now, it was a very clean example which had been well looked after. I converted it to an Mi16 around 2years ago and was extremely happy with the power and driving experience.

Around 2 weeks ago someone decided not to give way to me on a roundabout and resultantly smashed into the side of my car, he hit me at such a pace that I ended up on the traffic island hitting a post. Now both sides of the car are completely ruined, bent sill, chassis legs etc. My beloved car will now be written, gutted isn't the word!

There will be one less 205 gracing our roads.

Ouch :(

Main thing is that you're still here to tell the tale.

Hopefully the insurance will sort you out financially - did you have agreed value or anything?

Worth keeping the car as salvage if you've somewhere to store and break it, as clearly it has a lot of good parts on that can be transfered to another 205 if you get one, or sold on to recoup some of your losses and help keep other examples on the road.

Sorry to hear about this and glad you're ok.

This happened to mine a few years back, had owned it for 10 years.

Bought salvage back

Got the full value for the car

Bought another clean one for cheap

Reshelled it.

Do it! :)

Yeah I was pretty much unharmed from the crash, so far they have agreed a value of £2000 and I can by it back for £100 scrap value. I'm in two minds wether to sell the bits on as I could get a fair amount of cash from it, I have the space to store it so I might just keep an eye out for a clean shell possibly a rallye? something different! So it will hopefully live on in some form or way.

OUCH! i am so sorry to see that poor car smashed but as others have said more importantly you survived ok.

i hope your insurers give you a full payout and that you choose to get another 205.

i am also sure that many parts of your car if salvaged will help a few others here to keep their cars on the road and as said before you could always do a reshell?

Sorry to hear about this especially after all the love and effort went into it. I would be inclined to keep it and use bits

From it to save a good 205 from scrappy

i would agree re-shell it, if your getting a pay out then consider a car that needs paint have a nice paint job done and rebuild it ready for the summer :)

It happened in llandaff right outside the heathcock pub (2minutes away from my house!)

I'm going to hang onto to everything, keep an eye out for a decent shell.

Good man. Rebuild it better and tidier than it was before, turning this incident into a positive one :)

Glad to hear that you're all good - i often think that having an accident in a 205 must be like crashing with a plastic bag for protection!

Its begging for a reshell though - just imagine that mi16 in a rallye shell - go on!
