205 Gti Evo

I no there is already 1 (constella's) one the seen but I'm liking the idea.

Don't want a fancy 600bhp engine a standard evo 7 lumps fine. I was planning on a cosworth 205 but money and parts are a issue.

I have found engine complete for good money I can get a guy to make my gearbox mounts but what box can I use? I understand constella's one uses focus rs gearbox but he had the machinery to get the box to fit, is it possible to make a plate that bolt to the block and then to the box ??

I no I will need custom driveshafts and a lot of hours but I'm after a special track car toy for this year and I got time on my hands to build it :)

Any help ideas from you guys would be good

My help idea(sic) is to let you know that no is the opposite of yes. The word you are looking for is 'know'.

Get a written off evo, cut a chunk out the middle, join it back together, slip the 205 sheel over the top

I'm with Tom.

Why not just buy an Evo rather than take away the best bits of a 205

Thats a bit over the top in my opinion. The 205 is a nice looking car but it is not the best performance car out there currently.Given the possibilitys of putting in a powerplant from another car is a valid option Constella has done it and got results you will find hard to match with a Peugeot engine other than spending thousands on or getting a T16 engine and then spending thousands more to get it tuned.

Having taken everything into consideration it would be more cost efectective to put in another engine other than a Peugeot.I dont see that being a waste of disscusion. But thats just my opinion Tom please dont take offence and if it upsets you I appologise in advance.

I would recommend a Honda B16 engine with turbo.Good reliable engine and it can be tuned to 500 bhp plus for around a few grand.

Found a cheap engine and know a guy who can make you some mounts. Well that's it pretty much sorted then :)

Prove us haters wrong!

Why not have the best of both worlds a 205 with a evo engine ?

I personally just love the shape style and everything else about the 205 but its performance is its weak point 130 bhp 200 plus gti6 on tb's just dosnt compare with whats out there in terms of performance.Dont like any evo's but like the performance the engine would give if in a 205.Just look at the results Constella has had in his evo engined 205.270 plus bhp and torque in standard is far better than spending thousands on a gti6 conversion and cams head work tbs and still notgetting anywhere near evo engine power.

Your 205 has had thousands spent on it the amount of time money and effort you put into your 205 for the performance you got you could have put in a evo subaru engine in it and still would have had a few grand left over.

That maybe but I doubt I would have a better circuit car

Wouldn't a 205 evo engined car also require similar amounts of time and money to make work?

My 205 gti6 isn't anywhere near as fast as my old Evo 8 that was running 383bhp so you must have a very fast 205!

My old Evo was also quicker than a 400bhp 306 too.

Good point lets price it up pistons conrods gti6 £1000 tbs full kit 2000 mapping £500 bearings lightening balancing 3angle valves cams valve springs solid lifters or new hydraulic caps head gaskets exshaust manifild labour the list is endless just say for arguments sake it cost 5k all in and the end result will be 230 to 260; bhp max and 180 lbs torque.

Now if you can get a evo engine in standard form and modify a few engine mounts rewire it for under 5 k its a no brainer.More torque better reliability more bhp and superior performance than any gti6 on tbs with racing spec head pistons conrods and a remap.

What do you think ?

Depends what you want aaron the money involved in putting an evo engine in your 205 you could build a decent pug lump up say an s16 engine with a turbo .But the thing alot of people are over looking is its going to be front wheel drive 300bhp+ it will be crap. You wont put any power down when it comes on boost .Plus a circuit car you would be better of with linear power maybe a supercharged gti6 lump.

I bet an evo lump in a 205 would cost about the same if not more your overlooking alot of things here bob things like custom rads ,a clutch, custom exhaust system.,,driveshafts. Oh and what gearbox to use there isnt alot of front wheel drive cars that will cope with that sort of power so the price of a gearbox in there aswell. The rewiring probably would`nt be that easy probably some sort of multiplex or CAN system. So you would be best going aftermarket wiring/ecu +mapping .And again it would be crap against the gti6 lump above round a track it would be to uncontrollable

Your car certainly has balance and on a circuit it will be in its element. However I still think a standard evo engined 205 with the same set up has yours would get better lap times than your car. There simply is no subsitute to torque. The limiting factor with a Na gti6 engine is its lack of torque. The gearing and power delivery of a evo engine depending on which circuit it is will also play a big part in it.The more I think about it the more intresting it would be to see.I can see it being a close call with the evo engined 205 just shading it in my opinion.

I respect the idea from an engineering point of view, but I don't, can't and won't see the point.

Buy an Evo.
