Red Paint Question (To Lacquer Or Not?)

Recommended Posts

HERMAN

As above really I am just about to strip my 205 and get it ready for painting. The paint man said that he would lacquer it. Is this a good idea with a non metallic colour? will it stop it from oxidising?

Also is there any thing I should do to the shell while it is stripped to help with future corrosion prevention?

Cheers

Neil (Herman)

my 1992 phase 2 cherry red 1.6 was laquered from new but some may not have been? i hear conflicting views about this.

what i will say is that if you do laquer it make sure its done to a good standard and looked after to avoid laquer peel.

As Mark says, laquer peel would be awful. If it were me i would go for normal and highly polished!

You planning on keeping it outdoors? If so the red will fade under the lacquer and there's nowt you'll be able to do about it. I'd go non lacquered and keep it polished too.
