I've seen one of his "200bhp" gti6s make less than standard power on chipwizzards rollers :-/

Oil pump built up wrong also, causing the oil filter seal to fail.

Bottom pulley rubbing on crank seal causing it to fail.

ok i really dont get involved with this kind of thing but;

i have a hi flow built engine and cannot fault any of what has been done at all,i have done a fair bit of reading through reviews ect and it seems a really mixed bag?

can i ask where people are reading or the bad reviews are?

via pm ideally as not to clutter up the boards with it.

oh and im not trying to dispute or agree with anything i just want to form my own opinion

I have no doubt at all that they have some happy customers, you obviously being one. I mean, no business could survive years if they consistently churned out poor work. Unfortunately though, people get very vocal about bad experiences, and it takes time to shake off a bad reputation. One thing that is critical to any business is how you deal with mistakes when they happen, because nobody and no business is perfect, but to turn a bad experience in to a positive one can save your arse.

I'm the sort of person that researches a business or product's reputation (most of the time) before I splash the cash. And typically I will go straight for the bad reviews. I believe I can see through a lot of bulls*it in reviews - I see a lot of very bad customer reviews where it's immediately clear that the person is simply a total moron with unrealistic expectations - so I don't pay attention to bad reviews that I don't feel are valid. But if I read things that give me very real concerns about whether I want to risk my money, then I'm liable to walk away. And therein lies the problem.....

I've been an almost daily reader of this forum for 7 years, and it's fair to say that the stories related on here about said company can probably be counted on the fingers of 2 hands. So not significant in volume, but it's the details of those stories that are important. Given that their name is mud within this community, perhaps that's why there's only been a few bad tales, because our members steer clear. I can't say, with exception to your post, that I've heard any positive stories in their defence. So they would have to do some amazing things to turn their reputation around.

For the record, I'm simply stating my opinion and my perception of their reputation based on what I've heard. I have no first hand experience with them. I'm not advising anyone NOT to use their service, it's entirely up to the individual how they want to spend their money.

Edit: It's also somewhat interesting that I commented in a thread linked above that this company was registered with the Good Garage Scheme. That no longer seems to be the case. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, perhaps you have to pay for membership of the Good Garage Scheme and they simply no longer wanted that cost. Or not. Read in to it what you like.

hi GLP as i said in the above post i am very much against getting involved in anything like this ever,

if i am being honest i am looking for quite a big power engine build and i am simply trying to make sure i dont get stung in the process with false ideas of what is actually going to be achieved

i bought the car with the current HFH engine already in and have the receipt for a very hefty bill and the engine already has a proven bhp of 205,

but i know the engine doesnt have forged rods or solid lifters

so i am looking purely for recommendations of companys on a whole with proven track records with these engines and obviously with the engine in the car currently running so well i hadnt even considered not taking it back to HFH until i decided to research the company a little further

hence why i was asking if anyone did have posts or reviews ect to hand to save me spending hours looking through all the crap.

any help of any kind be it positive or negative will be much appreciated

just to add the engine is an s16 and its going to be tracked and all being well raced.

With all due respect, all I've done here is state my own personal opinion, so I'm not about to spend my time trying to dig up evidence. Finding topics will be difficult, because we try to avoid naming them directly (for obvious reasons), so when various long standing members tell you and others that there have been bad experiences discussed on here, you can either choose to trust that, or make your own decisions. That said, a google search will reveal examples from other forums.

I'm really going to try and make this my final comment as it's starting to look like a personal vendetta from me, and it's really not. Please don't ask me to comment further as I'm not very good at knowing when to shut up :D

Whatever happened to that thread where they used a diesel engine block and some lashed up home made engine mount bracket?

All (or most anyway) such topics have been pulled because of the threats from HFH.

But in the end I banned HFH from here based on all the bad experiences our members have had and also not wanting to pay out an outstanding amount owed to the forum for a number of years.

I'll pull this topic soon as well, as it's in a public forum, but wanted to put the record straight for the interested people amongst you.

Thanks.

Nik, instead of pulling the topic why not simply remove anything that incriminates them directly, and lock the topic. That way it's still there for people to see and draw their own conclusions.

I agree with GL shouldn't forum users be protected from a potential poor service or such a thread could possibly be restarted again with the same problems. I would believe most on this forum past experiences to avoid a potential bad trader

+1 for not deleting it. It bugs me that complaint threads get removed so easily on here. I fail to see it any other way than just protecting bad traders & poor service.

baz the only reason I said anything at all is because I was due to spend a lot of money and like most on here can ill afford to loose out,

im not backing anyone up or disagreeing with anyone, I just wanted to know where and what people were reading

plus trying to gain a little help from those that do build good engines

GLP thankyou for being honest as I would do the same and try and stop people getting burned

also im not ignoring anyone im just trying to find as much info on everything as I can, especially the bad
