How Much

Let me ask you guts what you have spent on your car, were not talking about service parts e.g. tyres were talking about the cost of the car when you brought it and what you have spent on it to keep it looking like a sexy (estimate), example brought my 1.9 for £600 (stole it by the way) and spent £500 looks tidy for an everyday car but by no means a mint one but turns heads and get comments??????

I bought my car for a respectable price back in 2001. I have a box of cleaning products, maybe £100 worth. Oh and lets not forget the £4k-£5k that its had just to keep it alive and healthy over the past 12 years...

I'm not going to say how much I paid for mine as I'm ashamed. But I did bry my previous 1.6 for £450 around about 2006, tidied it up and transferred some good stuff off the previous 1.9 I was stripping, and then srold it again for £400 about a year later. Best GTI I've had too :(

Did you see what I did there? :D

Current one.

£400.

Agree value insured for £5k.

They say every 10bhp gained costs £1k,

Mine has almost 70bhp more than standard.

My last track day car (cavalier), bought for £700.

Spent over the years of development on it about £34k.

Broke it up after 7 years and got about £7.5k back.

The 205 I bought cheap. Spent not a huge amount. And still have it.

20k is nothing to some, half that can be swallowed easily into an engine, you'd imagine something Like Colin Satchell's car would be twice that if you accounted for colin's own time as well as his friends that have helped.

I've spent nowhere near that much over the 8 years I've had mine, but its still too much

Purchased the car April 2012 for £1200....spent £2283.69 on it so far getting it back to former glory. A specific figure i hear you say, thats because i have logged every penny and kept every reciept. So far 29 different reciepts for the car from body clips to rear beam mind you there is some labour costs in that too.

I paid ~£300 for my latest one from my boss and it's now fully restored with my old Mi motor which I rebuilt at the end of last year. I haven't dared to tally up how much I have spent on this one yet!!

Current one cost me £500. I've spent about £100 but I'm stripping it to a bare shell for a respray. I've got some good contacts in the trade though to keep costs low
