205 Rallye Turbo Idea

Recommended Posts

aarontrophy

Evening all,

Having a chat at lunch time with a guy who has had a few 205 rallye in his life including a turbo 1.

He said it was running Renault 5 turbo carb and turbo, that's all he really remembered.

I'm guessing a decomp plate and a custom plate to bolt turbo on oil in and out, water as well. Dizzy adjust

What you guys thinking he said it was a basic conversion ???

I think that the Renualt 5 turbo carb bolts up directly to the inlet manifold on the TU3s (XS lump). (Or needing only very minor adjustments). I imagine the inlet stud pattern on the TU3s, and the TU32 (Rallye lump) are identical so that could be one way he did it.

What Baz ellequently means is its rather archaic. It might be cheap but there's much better solutions. As the rallye engine is a bit crap I'd look at a fuel injected tu engine out a saxo and turbo that. Even better a 106 rallye engine

There were a few people doing this carb'd turbo conversion about 15 years ago, but you can't get the fuelling balance optimised with a carb and a turbo. Renault 5's were not exactly the most reliable of engines either!!
