Drivers Of 1.6 Gti's

we all know that phase 1 1.6 gti's were sold from 1984 and that phase 2 1.6 gti's were last built in 1992/3 so it would be interesting to see who has the oldest or newest of the model on here?

 

i will start the ball rolling by listing my own car which is a 1993 phase 2 1.6 gti in cherry red so maybe one of the last of the 1.6's?

I've had 2 89 reg 1.6s.

 

How does that help the discussion? It doesn't! But everyone does this sort of thing in these youngest/oldest, highest/lowest etc topics

whilst i know that it was registered as new when sold in 93'

 

as for a yawn surely if you have nothing useful or nice to say its best to say nothing? thats what i was taught as a child!

 

some of us find the stats and information i am hoping this thread will create useful and interesting others like you will not!

I did say something useful. You could start to live by your own rule then. If we're being blunt/frank I find most of your posts yawn worthy as they're on the whole not very well thought out, repetitive or just state the obvious tbh as unsurprisingly, a lot of it's been discussed before to some length, probably more than once or you could find the info with a simple google search I'm sure.

 

1.6's were not built beyond '92, they never put cat's on them, there isn't management to deal with one.

Remember that the manufactured date and registered date (the one shown on the V5) are often quite different, so I'm sure that there are a few '93 registered 1.6 GTi's out there. They will have been manufactured however prior to August 1992, as after that date, they would have required a catalyst.

I've had a D plate and a K plate

 

Looked at purchasing an A plate (may 84) before xmas , sadly it turned out to be a ringer ( the owner was pretty gutted when i told him it was a 87 car ^^)
