Recommended Posts

Hi

I have another does anyone know this car querry, sorry if I am getting on peoples nerves, but last time I asked about a car the response was brilliant and stopped my buying a dog!!

So if anyone knows anything about this car I would very much apreciate it if you could let me know. He wants £2500 with 75k on the clock.

Thanks

I do not know this car at all, however that seems extremely overpriced to me by a minimum of £1000. Why so much?

That was my thought's. He seems to be a small dealer and I guess because its supposed to be in good nick and only 75k on the clock he thinks he can charge alot.

Thanks

What have you based that on?

I agree, it is priced at £1000 over it's true current value, I'd say.

Mine has 77K is in a similar condition and I'd never get £2500 for it - if it was a GTI perhaps, yes.

Looks tidy though but I'd say £2000 at most (oh and it's not original as the seats are wrong - all cloth seats in this age of CTI)

Perhaps I need to raise my agreed value from £2k then Mei!

Let me get this straight, you lot are valuing a car on a 400x300 px picture and a mileage figure, and NOTHING else?

Well no, not really as I have one sat outside and I have an idea of what it is worth. Also there are more pictures on the Ebay ad that is currently listed.

Realistically we all know they are not worth anywhere near as much as a GTI (at the moment, here's hoping!), which is a real shame.

Many thanks for all your help. So £1500 should buy me a good example, anyone willing to part with theirs? I need to find one by middle of Feb for my wifes birthday. She has wanted one for twenty years and this year is the one!!!

Thanks again.

Oh, in that case if it's a special purchase, buy this £2500 one but negotiate hard !

Approximately nine months ago there was what appeared to be an immaculate condition J plate with under 50K on the clock in a very nice looking green colour on Ebay for somewhere in the region of £1300 from a dealer in Chichester. Ok I did not see it in the flesh and it was nine months ago, but for the one mentioned here it would have to be immaculate inside and out (I'm talking eat your dinner straight out the engine bay) new rubber on all four corners with not one mark on the alloys.

CTIs don't typically command such strong prices, cartainly not amongst us lot, and definitely not at this time of year. But at the end of the day, demand will dictate the price, NOT us lot speculating about it's value. If someone wants a tidy CTI, they aren't going to be spolied for choice, so that may well sell for it's asking price.

Thanks to everyone for all your help. The level of support on this forum is brilliant and has already stopped me buying one piece of crap. Its so good to get informed information without all the bullsh1t that goes on in a lot of other forums. I also do alot of mounatin biking so I am on forums for this and you really would not believe the one up man ship that goes on and most of the advice I so biased its untrue.

Many thanks once again, and if anyone is thinking of selling a good Cti I am your man.

i bought my phase 205 gti about 2 years ago with 88,000 on the clock, immaculate condition, 4 brand new tyres, unmodified, absolutley full service history, receipts for all work undertaken i have three folders bulging with certificates receipts etc it even came with the tape player installed 1 owner from new and it only cost me £1800 so for a cti (although they re really nice)£2500 seems awfully steep
