Who Owns The Lowest Mileage 205!

Recommended Posts

yippeekayay

my nan gave her 1.1 g plate to her next door neighbors kid when they turned 17, had 13k on it (after 19 years and 12 exhausts), if it had not of been a 5 door i would have had it as it was totally totally mint....

There was a 10k miler on ebay about 9-10 months ago that had had 1 owner from new but had been almost completely taken to bits and sat in a works garage/lockup in a corner. It was a rolling shell and had new wings that were unpainted. It was just about the dirtiest 205 i've ever seen and most of the removed parts were sat in a trailer covered in 6 inch of dust. It went for just over £550 IIR. Was probably the best bargain 205 ever bought ever, well as long as the milage could be proved anyway.

Those with the low mileage ones will not be on here!! I spoke to loads of older gents at the classic car show at the NEC who have them in 4 figures. Infact a guy in the PSC has just picked up a white, non sunroof F plate 1.9 with 5,300 on it! No point in a pic as it is a white 205!!

Amazing! I may have to go next time and persuade an old codger to part with one

My clocks are reading less that 4,000 miles at the moment...

The one's in the car that is, since the new engine went in...

The others read around 128,000

My laser 1.9 has 28K on the clock. It did have 22K when I first got it. However only has a little history but it does confirm the millage back to 1997. Was put in storage in 1999 for 9 years till the time I brought it from a collector. Millage is believed to be true, when I had it it came to me with factory tyres etc. Unfortunately the car has had a front end tap early on in its life with not the best repair so the reality is that its probably not worth much at all. I did put it up for sale a few years back and it didn't even reach a grand. Its worth more to me for the enjoyment value! :)

It would be worth you paying for the repairs to be properly done should you ever want to sell. Then it will be worth silly money (if looking at the ebay listings are to go by)

Thats true. To be honest I am slowly doing bits and pieces. In fairness it isn't actually that bad I think im quite picky about it. I will get it done properly at some point as like you say it will be worth it but it will have to wait till more funds are avaliable. I know according to ebay these are making silly money but are they actually selling?

exactly what i thought .you seem to see the same overepriced cars on there for months on end

is your car on the hit list .ie insurance recorded as if it comes up on an hpi check that it was smashed it will still affect the value no matter how well repaired.well if the buyer checks :D

So after 3 pages we've discovered that - unsurprisingly - there's only a handful of truly low mileage 205 owners on here, and that the lowest is likely to be the one at 5300 miles that Henry mentioned.

We've also discovered that there's plenty of owners with GTIs around 100k. Which seems rather pointless input to the topic. Bit like me saying I've got some potatoes in the fridge at home. Factual? Yes. Interesting? No.

Sorry, just saying :P

GLP There are positives to take from even that - most of these cars are around 22-24 years old, that's around 4500 miles a year! So people who use theirs daily on 100k must have found a car which hadn't been used for decades in a barn :D

Maybe this should be 'Who has the most pointless 205?', because the ones with the epicly low mileage are the ones that have spent their life in storage, which makes them pointelss GTIs.

Actually that's a debate I could potentially win, given how neglected mines been over the years I've had it

Mine is on 130k, and has been in a garage for the past 3 years!

Maybe a 'Most non original 205' thread is needed? Or a Most original 205!

Would just end up being lots of photos of this
