What Compression Tester?

they're all much the same at that price range, draper do one that looks identical.

They'll never be a precision instrument that cheap, but as long as they are looked after will give a decent indication of something wrong.

Cheers guys, it's only really for an indication of any issues so I'll go with that.

I've got the similar draper version, seems to work well.

I've got the same one you've linked to, and it does exactly what it says on the tin, and seems to give fairly accurate (and certainly repeatable) figures.

I'm of the opinion that the exact values aren't actually that important usually - typically what you're looking for is differences between cylinders, and whether the values appear to be in the expected ballpark or not.

I have that one too, it must be about 20yrs old if not a little more & certainly always done me proud, it does read down a little compared to friends expensive newer ones (Mac/Snap On etc) but then it's old and was a fraction of the cost & i'd agree with the above anyway so no doubt it'll be providing many more years of service!
