Mileage On Replacement Clocks

Recommended Posts

Anton green

If I get myself a spare set of clocks to do the tacho modifications for my XM turbo engine conversion, can the mileage be successfully set at the precise figure so that it is a straight swap 'out and in' job?

It's possible to change the mileage, but neither I or anyone else is going to explain how to do so on a public forum for obvious reasons.

Easiest thing is just to swap the complete speedo module from your existing clocks anyway - unclip the cover and then it's just four screws (two front, two rear)

Hi Anton. Yes they can, but it won't be posted up on a public forum of how to do it.

Get yourself along to a Yorkshire meet as it is can perhaps be done there :)

Hmmm yes it's possible to forget the forum may attract people passing through who aren't enthusiasts.

Now I know it can be done I'll most likely acquire a set of clocks and see how I progress first off.

I might just get myself along when I get a moment H, I haven't been to a meet for years.

I might have a set of clocks in the garage. I know I have some XS ones in there.

..Not familiar with many other clocks apart from the Gti really, although I have seen some odd base model variants! If you have a good condition Gti set up for grabs I may be interested after I have sold my dimma spoiler so I have a little in the car fund to spare.

I do remember however the fuel gauge meters (for one) on the dash can differ between different year 205s, let alone different models and I'd like everything to tally-up exactly ideally.

Just checked and I have two sets of GTI ones in the garage with nice clear unscratched faces , which means I have one spare! £20 to you my friend :)

Sounds good to me fella :D I'll most likely nip over after I have sorted a few bits on the engine swap and got it going, not to put the cart before the horse.. Do the two clocks have the same faces with denominations identical Henry?

Would I be OK to pop around for the clocks this weekend Henry, along with a Peugeot oil filter with the non-return valve, if you still have any unused? -I remember you posting about them years ago

Yeah that should be OK Anton. Best to call me first just to make sure I am in and there is not too much show!! I'll PM you my number and address. I'm guessing you are up St Quentin way still.

The filters were yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaarrrrrrrssssssss ago! I need some more myself now as 205's, 306's and 307's have use them all. I was looking to get a bulk purchase amongst the Yorkshire group at some point as there is a big discount for a pack of 10.

my Robins and Day dealer lets his gen 205 gti oil filter go for about £ 3 each.

If thats an improvement on a bulk buy let me know and get contact details over
