Anyone Use Slicks?

rear has no camber compensation, and the front with a lowered car has none either if not a little of the opposite effect. So need quite a bit of static camber. Trade that off against roll stiffness to improve braking basically. Im pretty happy with my setup now, although yet to drive it in the dry. Going from GAZ to AST on the front dampers made a world of difference. Front suspension actually moves now even though the spring is slightly stiffer :)

What AST's did you stick on in the end?

Its crazy the amount of people that will spend lots on uprights, brakes, wishbones yet when it comes to dampers they stick on s*it!

Parry. I also have the neg camber arms on my 205 if you wanted to check it out. Same as above from Bridgecraft.

went for the sportline 2's single adjustment for bump and rebound.

These seems the best value as I don't have the testing scope to get into 2-4way adjustables. And crucially they are inverted monotube with a large (44mm? I think) shaft rather than a skinny shaft on the sportline 1s. This helps with the bending moment induced stiction of which the GAZs suffered horribly. ~100kg :o

so now I dont have access to a 4-post rig ;) I can do my lamens test of bouncing the suspension by hand haha and it actually moves rather than bouncing on the tyre.

i did put a set of slicks on mine once,

i'm only running neg 2 on the front,

when i had my curent setup of low boost SC,

and it ate the inside edge of the slick and the centre tore off too

granted these were used slicks and i didnt know the age, but they were cheap :)

i run a048's and r888's and dont have the same issue

Everythings for sale!

The are 3 degrees -camber and 2mm toe in. I have them measured at a local place and the readut was between 2.5 and 2.7 degrees neg. Ill be taking it to heasman shortley to get the whole car weighted once I fit my coil overs.

Just heat them up again with the oxy torch until you have the desired angle.

This is the proven best way to get rear camber!

Understanding the FWD touring car and what makes it quick is all good in practice, but it takes a very good driver to actually drive it quickly.

Shaft is only about 14mm still Henry, but will be a 44mm inner tube. I have the measurement somewhere as it will be the same as mine. When you want to go faster give us a shout. You dont need to test lots to come to terms quickly with 3 way adjustable dampers, just need to get your head around what the car needs, what you want and how the adjusters actually work.

You guys think I'm joking. I use to own the beam currently in Parry's car. The owner previous to me heated the arms up half way along and gave them a bit of a twist, creating -1.5 deg neg camber. This was done in a jig of course, on the work bench and not on the car. Being cast steel there's nothing wrong with the process metallurgy wise and the arms are now 15+ years old, competition use only. Thus have definitely lasted the test of time.

ed: I very much doubt changing to 3 way adjustables will make me any quickers. There is just too much other stuff on a 205 which isnt great for a race car. Plus I have much more to gain via my driving once im happy with the balance rather than overall grip levels.

I'm certainly not prepared to pay the extra required for 3 ways for the gains that they offer over singles. Christ I mean the some GT3 cars only run 2-ways and they pull 1.8g lateral.

I think you'd be surprised.

The GT3 cars may only run 2-ways, but they also take them apart very often ;)
