I thought the new fix didnt envolve a new chain. Lock the. Crank retime the top end job done. Thats what are master techs do. Ithink that its the inlet cam the slips out of sync cause it doesnt have a woodruff key to locate the pully. Stupid design

there are a few revised parts with anti slip surfaces, still no woodruffs though.

The engine has no woof ruff key and both pulleys are fully floating.

you have to see what p codes you have in the ecu then hold one cam one way and the other cam the other way depending on p codes and tighten the pulleys, crazy s*it if you ask me!

weve done 5 or so engines from high oil use, the pistons just slap about in the liners there crap.

Then you get the people that fit oil catch tanks and wonder why the engine light comes on.

For some reason witch i cant work out the engine has negative crank case pressure? i.e inside the inlet mani air is being sucked or blown cant remember witch way, if you pull the dipstick out of leave the oil cap off when they are running it sounds like a throttle body, and makes the engine light come on.

Same reason for the high oil consumption, the inlet gets flooded with oil, weve taken heads off at 5k miles and had to clean valve seats and replace oil seals, because of that breather pipe bringing oil up from the rocker cover.

I could go on all day about the poor design, like the plastic waste gate that breaks up and the turbo sucks in all the bits ;) nasty..

One of our branches had a new citroen ds3 delivered that the battery was flat on the transporter, so the delivery driver rolls off and trys to bump start it, it didnt start but bend nearlly all of the valves, it doesnt have a wood ruff key so when it was bump started the pulley just slipped round,

shows how much i hate these engines, rant over :)
