Saxo Vts Misfire?

Recommended Posts

qwerty

Evening all

I parked my 2001 saxo vts up and it was running jus fine, the next day it was -5 (very very cold) i got into it and it was misfiring then the engine management light started flashing, :(

It ticks over fine jus sounds a bit lumpy and when driving it it jus take a bit of effort to get it up the hills, have to keep it in low gear,

I thought it might just be dampness but I've sprayed around with wd40 and checked the plugs n everything seams fine :(

Would anyone have any idea what it might be?

Thanks

Mark.

got enough fuel in it?

check for spark, its wasted spark so if the coil goes down it'll run on two.

the injector wiring can cause issues.

Could it be the coil pack?

I seam to remember a friend having to change his on a Saxo.

I'll check the spark next week, have a feeling it could be the coil, is there anyway to tell other than forking out £60 for one?

Cheers

IMO it sounds like a coil. They dont like the cold very much. My MR2 had this issue, My 205 had this issue this week and I am waiting for a new coil to arrive. Personally thats where i would start. Pretty sure coils are a common issue in the winter, not too expensive I wouldnt have thought on a Saxo either.

quite the opposite, its heat that breaks down a coil.

coilpacks are prown on these also the injection loom breaks down under the top half of the inlet. I had both of these go on my vts and the 106 gti i have now

Try amazon for a coil. They quite cheap there. Also, I'd never buy a second hand set unless your really tight on money... But that's more personal choice...
