Ignition Amplifier Thermal Contact Grease

Should there be a grease or a contact paste behind the ignition amplifier?

Mine was just dusty corrosion from the aluminium plate.

I've looked all over for heat sink grease / thermal compound but can't find owt.

yes there should, its pretty easy to get, Maplins stock it amongst many, you should find it in any computer or electronics supplier as processors have the stuff on it where the heatsink is fitted.

Just the same stuff they use for computer processors then?

 

I also need a little help with the wiring if anyone can help?

 

The distributor wire was a tangle of insulation tape and i cut it all out before noting which way round the wires go to the dizzy.

 

The ignition amp wires to the dizzy are green and red - as here http://forum.205gtidrivers.com/index.php?showtopic=110905

(wires 5 and 6 on the ignition amp plug)

 

The dizy wires are Purple and orange? which connects to which?

I've only got an old (dead) dizzy lead that I can see the wire colours on but they are red & black so I plugged it into an old piece of loom I have from the ignition amp to dizzy lead.

 

The red wire in pin 5 connected with pin 1 on the dizzy side of the plug with the green going to the centre pin & shield wire to pin 3.

 

I think I have a complete good lead somewhere in a box downstairs so I'll have a look & get the full pin layout but the plug that goes into the dizzy has only two pins.
