Power To The Ecu, 2L Turbo Conversion Wiring

Recommended Posts

Anton green

I was looking at having first start up of the engine yesterday but we couldn't seem to get power to the ECU -no sounds of relays clicking or such like. Does the ecu need a power supply AND A SIGNAL of some variety to tell it to awaken?

Wires 32 and 32AD need a switched live,if you have got this, the loom live is plugged in and the Loom is earthed then i would have a double check all your supplies are there, pump, coil etc,if they are maybe your ecu is locked.

I went to start min the other day and my ecu has locked itself again,i did the unplugging it trick while it was on the other car and i dont think it has worked properly. If all checks out ok i earthed pin 10 on the double relay then that gave me power to the coil and fuel pump then it was away,iv now sent my ecu away to be unlocked.

The ecu should be constantly fed 12v from the shunt box to ecu pin 19 iirc.

Do I need all the supplies plugged in for it to operate so far as an initial start?

I'll have a check when I nip over to the unit shortly.

Thanks all..

The minimum to get it to start are both switched lives, the loom live that plugs into the shunt box and the engine harness needs to be earthed, that should get you fired up,the rest will be gauges etc

Have you got wiring diagrams for it?

Yes I have wiring diagrams. Although everything is taking twice as long as it should to figure out as it is my first engine swap from scratch (the wiring was already completed (but required redoing) when I had my Mi16..)

I'll look at it with a fresh pair of eyes probably Monday, this very moment I can't recall making the connection to the shunt box

On my loom it was a 2 pin connector, looks like the others in the shunt box, rectangular connector, this powers up several pins on the double relay and provides the ECU with is permanent live
