Gti 6 Wont Start After Being Stood

Did you read what I put about Ryanstdt's car in an earlier post?

The double relay controls the pump and ECU separately, the fuel pump may be working nicely but the ECU may not be.

No, the hdi relay is different for certain but I'm not sure about every petrol model using the same relay as the GTI-6.

Check service box.

Back in the day when I use to PDI GTI 6,s they were a pain in the arse for fowling the plugs if left in the compond or short stop/start journeys and no mater if you cleaned the plugs with a wire brush or heated with a torch to burn off excess fuel the only way to get them to run right was a set of new plugs. Worth a try.

Spend some time around the gearbox area where you disturbed things recently.

Remove all the earths and give them a clean up if you haven't already.

i dont mind paying money for it to be sorted, ive payed stupid amounts of money to repair it myself anyway, but if i can diagnose it with help from you guys, (who do know what there doing) at only the cost of time it can potentially save me alot of money. dont you think i would like to be able to go to a garage and say "my car wont start, fix it please" and then pay stupid prices on labour for it to be repaired?? if i had that sort of money i would, but tbh i dont, especially this time of year!!

i can appreciate i dont know alot about these cars and have in the past asked what most people on here would consider 'stupid' questions, but the quality of the conversion was very poor and thus isnt helping my cause. i would love to send my car to miles or someone and have them rip it all to bits and get it all tidy but like previously stated i dont have the cash.

hence me seeking advice on here

im not sure what sort of person you percieve me to be but i can assure you that i do try and fix and diagnose things before seeking help on here

i may have found the culprit!! after taking things apart and generally poking around, i was looking at my crankshaft sensor and looking in the hole it sits in. it looks as tho the previous owner of the gearbox has tampered with the hole the sensor sits in, it isnt very neat and is misshaped. after sticking my finger in the whole and having i feel it seems as tho the hole was drilled out or something. now im not sure but did any be1 gearboxes come with no crank sensor hole because im thinkin he has drilled it himself to acomodate a crank sensor it hasnt worked and flogged it to me on ebay ?? whats your opinions guys im hoping im wrong but it does seem highly likely :(

stick a pictue up.

most BE1 boxes had crank sensor holes, I've worked on gti's on 87 reg's that did.

im pretty positve its been poorley drilled or something along those lines if the sensor is not in exactly the right position would it not pick up the pulse properly and cause it not to run properly??

I actually fitted mine to a BE3 last night. Its not a tight fit, but its quite deffinate in the position it needs to be.

Can you get no one to crank it while you move it about a bit to see if she kicks up? then at least you will know?

thats what i did do it didnt start but it affected the way it was trying to start but i think the hole might be slightly angled so this might be why
