Does 306 GTI-6 or 205 GTI starter fit by any chance?

 

Servicebox seems to suggest that 306 (slim) one should fit?

Yes, they should fit.

 

The starters that fit a 205 mostly fit later xu derivative engined models.

 

I recently sold a 406 hdi starter which fits the 205 but it wasn't as slim as the petrol models.
