Do I Need Cooling Fan?

Recommended Posts

jonb_5

Hi

Just wondering after taking the rad out last night and feeling how heavy the cowling is and fan.

Do I really need the cooling fan, it is only for hill climbing so engine will prob only be running for roughly 10mins max at a times, if that to be honest.

Should I keep it or would I be able to ditch it?

Thanks

Jon

Its nice to have one for queuing and just in case. You could remove all the fan and cowling and fit a nice lightweight spal type fan.

what size inch wise would you need to get to fit the rad? they are quite shallow.

IIRC you'll want around an 11 inch fan

As above, 11" spam or revotec pulling fan. Bin the heavy cowling.

Normally, one only needs fans for standstill and very slow driving, as the airflow that comes from regular driving

overpowers the fans anyway. I found this at an occasion my fans were not working. It's funny how the water temp

gauge needle quickly goes up and down.

I've got an 11' fan on my track car. Temps never a problem when queuing
