Pedantic but that's actually a Ph3, but yes if going off the headlights alone you'll be safe, 2 & 3 are the same.

Guys, seriously.

I appreciate this thread has more than run it's course due to being as confusing as it is informative, but still no need for the argument - you each have your own way which works for you.

The best thing that can happen here is for a Moderator to clean this up by deleting all the misleading points and leaving only the clear information for future informative searches.

As above :)

I've cleaned up the thread and tried to keep the informative / helpful / accurate posts, and hopefully made things a bit clearer for both teh OP and anyone finding this thread in future using a search

I've taken the time to go through and clean up this thread, to correct/remove misleading and/or incorrect information in order to make it useful for people searching in future, and thus I would appreciate it if certain people would stop continuing to argue the toss and bicker <_<

Now, back on topic...

errrrr i cant remember what the topic is...... oh yer a gti6 conversion.

i think some one needs to spend a few hours gathering info and putting a topic to archive as a complete guide to doing a gti6 converion start to finish so then we can stop covering this topic

so anyone up for the challenge

ORB

In addition to all things above, don't forget the simple yet costly service stuff such as:

- oil

- filter

- gearbox oil

- crush washers

- plugs

- inlet/exhaust gaskets

- drive shaft oil seals (always worth doing)

- RTV ( I use tiger seal for everything)

- beer

- Regal (king size)

also if you intend to paint the engine bay when engine is out theres nothing like a pristine engine bay, you could easy do £100 on paint and prep

Yep, then we'll end up in a big mess again because of differing opinions on how to do certain aspects of the conversion.

IMO It's best if people either just have a crack or search the forum for help where it's needed and make there own decision on the best way to go about the job.

Get to hear the engine running is a must, The amount of engine's I get supplied with it's done 75k and run's mint or been rebuilt runs around 75% of them need head work which add's allot to the cost when you have fitted everything.

One reason why buying a complete car is worth it's weight in gold with these engines
