What Other Pugs Used The 1.9 Speedline/smr?

Recommended Posts

Hello assorted Pug enthusiasts!

I'm doing a nerdy car quiz at work and I'm keeping it mostly at a high level (too anoraky and everyone will dial out) but I would like to know what other Peugeot models used the 205 1.9 GTi alloy. Obviously the 309 GTi did, but I seem to think there was a 405 that also did, but I can't find it - I'd thought it was the GTX but that has different wheels as far as I can see.

What do you know? Flex some anorak muscle!

Ta.

I'm not aware of any other cars that used it, although that's not to say that there wasn't, especially in non-UK spec.

Middling 405's such as the GTX used a 14" alloy similar to that used on 205 STDT/Gentry models, atleast certainly on Phase 1 models, and Mi16 and T16 models both used a similar 5 spoke wheel in varing sizes (14" on early Mi16's, 15" on most, and 16" on T16's)

Some 306 and 406 hub caps were similar looking to 1.9 GTi alloys though, and certainly on 406's they were 15" too.

Only the 205 and 309 afaik - Some 306's and 405's have steelies with wheeltrims that look quite a lot like speedlines though.

EDIT - Beaten to it!

405 never used them, the 306 Roland Garros did.

a simple part number cross reference would have bought that up ;)

As WP said, only the 306 RG had them, but you would have to be really sad to get that question right!

I think I was initially intrigued as there was a ropey 306 RG knocking about in Cardiff for a few years :)

They were even used in grey on the later ones and the phase2 ( FVT ) I think he silver ones are the same as the later 205 colour, EVF IIRC, from 1 July 1992.

Are you raising the bar here Mei?! You can strike me down with servicebox facts, but ultimately I will beat you with history. Mwahahahaha!

I messaged him asking - "Are you sure these are 13" wheels as they look very much like the same 15" Speedline/SMR wheels fitted to the 205 GTI". I also attached a link to a Google pic of the correct 13" RG alloy.

His reply - "Yes they're 13" wheels as i measured them myself".

Well clearly he doesn't know how to use a tape measure correctly then - muppet lol

oh he knows how to use a tape just fine, but doesn't know how to distinguish between a 306 and a 106.
