205 Tailgate/door - Fit In An Astravan?

Recommended Posts

Would it not be easier to source parts more local?

Tailgate 100 quid brand new in Louth and 2nd hand doors are always for sale at the breaker(always on ebay) in Sc*nthorpe.

No massive road trip then :-)

I want the right colours to save money. Don't mind the road trip and both parts including fuel come to £80...That's £10 each for the parts and £60 for fuel...still a bargain with the distance

i couldnt fit a boot in my astra, i tryed my boot, and i picked up two doors that have actaully distroyed a few of my interior panels getting the door out, not worth the driver from Hull to oxford for what is rather available parts. you will have to be a lucky person to get red panels to match.

My idea is to mop the car anyway...it's worth a punt for £80 in my mind.

whether you mop it or not the color is possibly different with all the years of sun deterioration. my astra is 4 years old and the filler cap is a darker color than the body, its just the way red is. alot of money if you have to end up painting them anyway,.

Resting a door on a tailgate in a boot over a long journey jsut sounds like a whole world of pain.

As others have said, I think you will probably be disappointed with colour match (lack of). Personally I would instead source the STRAIGHTEST panels you can find locally and put the van hire and fuel cost into having them painted. (and that is from the owner of a red 205 too).

When i fitted the boot door and two doors in the boot of a 106 i used a few sheeets and an old duvet to stop any damage occuring.
