6 Month Insurance

Recommended Posts

davey205

I have been using a Saxo 1.1 that I was given as a daily driver but often long for the 205.

Anybody here just insure their 205 during the summer months, which policy are you on and how much do you pay?

Thanks

My Focus RS is with Need 2 Insure on a 12 months policy. Starts the year as a SORN policy for about £120 and then when i want to put it on the road i just pay the extra £300 odd required to cover an on road comprehensive policy. When i want to take the car back off the road 6 odd months later, quick call to N2I to notify the SORN and then normally get a small rebate back from the £300.

Will your current insures not allow you to swp to or even add another car, ie. the 205, as and when?

I'm with Admiral, I've got a feeling they don't allow that but will look over the policy documents.

Admiral do multicar policies.

Yep checked that, £975 for both cars, Ideally if possible I was hoping to save money by only insuring 1 at a time so Saxo winter 205 Summer.

Not yet but am thinking this maybe the way to go.

Ooh it definitely seems Classic car insurance is the way to go with admiral multicar it was costing for the 205 £542.41, just got a quote for £287.55 with Performance direct classic policy.

Why though is it asking how many years NCB I have on my other vehicle, surely this is irrelevant as I can't use them on the classic policy.

They certainly used to as did elephant who are admiral. I'm not talking about a multicar policy, they're no help in this situation as you only use one car at a time right?

Because they'll base it on that even though you can't use it, it's still a good yardstick on how likely you are to claim!

Yes ideally would like to use only 1 at a time but from what I've read online I think you used to be able to but it seems not possible to transfer part way through the policy because of the new SORN rules or something :s

Anyway I have now sent them an email asking if it's possible and what if any charges there may be other than basic premium adjustment for the change of car.

Admiral added my 205 as a temporary car onto my Volvo policy. Both cars insured. Cost me about £28 quid per month although they only do it for 30 days at a time. I rang up at the end of the first month and they extended it no problem.
