Best Exhaust Diameter For An Mi

Recommended Posts

starky5

I'm looking at getting an exhaust made for my mi, it's standard at the moment but I might try and get a bit more out of it in the future. Nothing crazy tho. The current system in 2.5 inch which seems a bit big, what's the ideal size for the sort of power my engine has?

Thanks

2.25" or 2.5" but it doesn't matter, you could fit 3" if you really wanted to.. the important diameters are all in the manifold.

one that tapers from manifold to the back is best I believe, any o.e system I've remembered to make note of has been like that.

Miles does nice system's with a few bore sizes available.

Anything over 2.25" is just noise. Even std Mi16's were a 2.25" twin skin, with an ID the same as a 2" system.

>2.25" won't make it any louder, it will just deepen the tone. Loudness depends entirely on the mufflers.

I ran 2.25" on my 1900 mi with no problems and it would be my recommendation for a 1.9. If you're planning big numbers, say 210 upwards, then probably not but it sounds like you've not got anything like that in mind?!

The best reason for using 2.25" pipe is that it would cost you less! :D

2.25" would be better for a 2.0 16V IMMHOOO!

2" is crap even on an 8v.
