Help Please Heaters/indicators/wipers

Recommended Posts

I have had an intermittent fault where the heaters, wipers and indicators stop working and also the full beam light bulb comes on the dash and the two indicator arrows both are lit, most dials go all the way to the right apart from the speedo and tacho, this all happens at the same time. Like I said it was intermittent but now its just not working permanently. Im assuming this is a wiring/earth issue. I have searched but nobody seems to have had all these problems at once, can anyone help?

Have you disturbed any of the instrument panel earths on the steering column?

These would be my starting point.

Hi mate cheers for the reply. I started by checking the fuses and then the earths - no change. Then I went on to check plugs in the engine bay, got to the multi function relay and it seems it was that causing the problem because after I cleaned it up everything was okay again. Just for information the car is actually a 2l turbo conversion (xu10j2te) :)

Have you messed about with the hazard/fog/rear screen switches?

I accidentally plugged them in the wrong way and caused all sorts of weird problems

Thats odd, I struggle to see how an engine relay will cause the hazards, heater, wiper & indication problems as they aren't (or shouldn't be) connected.

Who did the conversion?

Maybe it was something else mate but it definitely started working again after that, I had the wiper stalk down so I knew if something was going to trigger it again and it came on straight after that multi function relay. Conversion was done by SOS motorsports but it's had an engine change from the one they fitted so not sure whats SOS work and what isn't.
