205 With Vts/gti6 Engine, What Air Filter Are You Using

Recommended Posts

what filter/induction kit are people using? my car came with a bodged air filter and breather setup so keen to get something decent fitted to protect the engine and stop the oily smell in the car.

k&n filters dont come cheap you get the cold air feed pipes and a bracket to fix the filter to something stoping it hanging the waiting to fall off

if you mean the size of the inlet? i think its 3" as i have some 3" hose that fits well on it

ITG JC40 - But I've a slighty different arragement

Previously I used a GTi6 K&N cone filter coming off a 3 inch or so section of 76mm silicone hose and removed the resonator box and bunged the hole. Sounded like:

i run the standard vts hose arangement with a pipercross filter on the end. its a fiesta zetec filter which i got for a fiver from halfords as it was old stock but its about the same size as the gti6 one. dont spend a fortune on one as its not worth it, just order one which fits the inlet size.

I will bring the subject back becasue I am just about to fit Pipercross filter to my GTI6/VTS engine. At the moment I have something like this

Can I short this rubber piece off and fit samco straight reducer instead ?

At the moment there is some small size silicone hose going back to the manifold, can I just get rid of this ?

You can do away with the T piece on the inlet pipe yes and have a filter coming off the ICV.

And just block the end part ? or leave it open ? What is the diameter coming out from the manifold ?

If you want to use a hose like you've pictured without a T piece for the ICV, it will be unfiltered so you'd ideally need to put a filter on the end of the then redundant thin blue hose you already have.

Yeah.

Here's how mine looked.

I will dig out the invoice for my filter and give you the appropriate size for a standard ICV hose. Your existing blue one may be slightly different though.

Ahh I see it now, I will do something similar, just need to buy that small breather filter and I will cut the blue silicone hose a bit to suit. Thanks a lot for help !

Can somebody help me out and give me a diameter at the end of the inlet in GTI6 ? I hope to pop over to the shops today and tomorrow and unfortunately I will not be able to check it myself until the weekend. Anyone have the manifold out in the garage ?

Cheers,

Mike

The throttle body has an OD of 76mm do you'll need a hose with an ID of 76mm
