Will This Starter Motor Do The Job

Recommended Posts

sushisushi

My starter is on the way out. I want to buy a quality one as I'm going to use the 1990 1.9 GTI as my daily driver. I've read the valeo slim starters work very well. Possibly better than the standard ones. Been looking at this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VALEO-starter-12-V-CITROEN-LANCIA-PEUGEOT-SUZUKI-TALBOT-433305-/271099592952?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3APeugeot|Model%3A205&hash=item3f1ecb80f8#vi-ilComp

Any advice?

Cheers, Stu.

Check the drop down vehicle list on the auction, or contact the seller.

Are you sure its your starter that is on the way out & not the usual brown muitplug / wiring problem?

It starts fine just makes a clattering noise as if the unit is a bit seized?

Its probably just getting old in that case, they are a simple unit so not much to go wrong but when it does they tend to stop working completely.

Yep it's broken. I found this out in the rain last night. Can anyone recommend the best quality one to get? Model / part number would be a big help. Just been on to the people who were selling that one. Even though its listed as fitting a 1.9 it doesn't

They came back with a bosh £160!!!!, or a delco remy £125. The Valeo one was only £50!
