1.6 Gti With Bike Carbs Tuning.

Hi all!

 

I´m finishing a 1.6 engined 205 gti, for rallying, with this specs:

 

-1.6 bottom end, rods balanced. 405 SRi pistons, mi16 lightened flywheel.

-8v gti head, light ported, Catcams 298º, vernier pulley.

-Custom manifold with a set of ZX9R carbs, 165 main jets.

-Facet posi-flow fuel pump.

 

I started the engine, and it seems like so much ignition retard for starting. Once started, it do cof cof and go enough ok on the range of 2000-5000 RPM, then it dont want to raise more RPM...and spte some back fires...

 

What its the recommended ignition timing for this engine? Maybe 12º?

 

The spark plugs are soooo black and it spites black smoke too...

 

It dont have return fuel line but the posiflow pump claims that it dont need it, because it do only 4psi...

 

Its possible its going so rich because the fuel pump, filling too much the carbs? The main jets seems are the ok for a 1.6 engine.
